This November's election dramatically changed the make-up of Cincinnati's City Council. Four incumbent Republicans were voted out, and on December First seven Democrats, one Independent and one Republican were sworn into office.

Every ten years, after the federal census, each state must redraw its legislative district boundaries to reflect the new population data. As seen most recently in Ohio, the process can create problems, for both political parties.

The makeup of the next Cincinnati City Council will be decided on November 8, as voters choose from among the nine current members and fourteen challengers on the ballot. The top nine vote getters will win council seats.

Next month voters will decide whether Cincinnati can aggregate, or combine energy customers within the city, to purchase retail electric and natural gas services. The bulk buying power of aggregation can reduce costs, but some say it shifts choice from the consumer to the city.
