Tana Weingartner earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in mass communication from Miami University. Most recently, she served as news and public affairs producer with WMUB-FM. Ms. Weingartner has earned numerous awards for her reporting, including several Best Reporter awards from the Associated Press and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists. She served on the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Board of Directors from 2007 - 2009.

New effort aims to reduce infant death rates

Hamilton County is preparing to launch a county-wide Collaborative on Infant Mortality Rate Reduction.

Participants include: Hamilton County, City of Cincinnati, Hamilton County Public Health, Children's Hospital Medical Center, UC Health, The Christ Hospital, TriHealth, Inc., and Mercy Health Partners of Southwest Ohio.

"It is a significant collaborative of the major healthcare systems in the region all coming together under one umbrella," says Commissioner Todd Portune.

Hamilton County's infant mortality rate well exceeds the national average.

Hamilton County orders flags to half-staff

Hamilton County Commissioners issued the following directive on Tuesday:

By Order of the President of the United States of America, the flag of the United States will be flown at half-staff at all Hamilton County government buildings and facilities beginning today until sunset, April 20, 2013 in remembrance of those killed and injured at the Boston Marathon bombing on Monday, April 15, 2013.

Mobile food vending expanding in Cincinnati

Mobile food trucks will soon have more vending options.

Cincinnati's food truck program is expanding. City Council is expected to vote Wednesday to add more vendor parking spaces.

Councilwoman Laure Quinlivan says spots are being added near the nightlife areas in Over-the-Rhine (12th and Clay streets) and day-time vending spots are being created near Washington Park.

One day event to collect hard-to-recycle items

Keep Cincinnati Beautiful is offering a one-day free recycling event Saturday for hard-to-recycle items.

They'll be taking various kinds of e-waste like cell phones and computer components along with plastic grocery bags and number 5 plastics.

The one-stop-drop will be at the Whole Foods in Rookwood Commons.
