Tana Weingartner earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in mass communication from Miami University. Most recently, she served as news and public affairs producer with WMUB-FM. Ms. Weingartner has earned numerous awards for her reporting, including several Best Reporter awards from the Associated Press and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists. She served on the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Board of Directors from 2007 - 2009.

Commissioners Wednesday approved a county-wide collaborative that aims to reduce infant death rates.

Commissioner Todd Portune says the multi-agency approach is needed to tackle such a big issue.

Which parts of Hamilton County had most foreclosures in 2012?

As WVXU reported earlier, Ohio is bucking a nationwide decline when it comes to home foreclosures. The state's foreclosures numbers increased in 2012.

An annual study by Working In Neighborhoods finds completed foreclosures in Hamilton County rose 45 percent from 2011 to 2012.

Sheriff and Prosecutor offices lead expenses as county budget tracking higher than projections

Hamilton County Commissioners say they're not overly concerned about the county budget situation but they want to watch it closely to make sure there are no unexpected surprises.

Nine of the county's 29 general fund departments are tracking over budget. The two largest are the Sheriff's and Prosecutor's offices.

Student hospitalized after shooting himself in La Salle HS classroom



Update: During a televised news conference, La Salle spokesman Greg Tankersley said the school will not release the name of the student who shot himself this morning, at his parents' request. Tankersley said the boy, still in critical condition, is an honors student, with 80 hours of community service.

Hamilton County tracking over budget

Hamilton County Commissioners are set to review the 2013 budget Monday.

A quarter of the way through the year, administrators say the county is projecting over budget.

General fund expenditures are projected to be $5.3 million over. In a memo to commissioners, Budget Director John Bruggen attributes the overage to several departments - primarily the Sheriff and Prosecutor's offices - projecting well over budget.
