Tana Weingartner

Reporter

Tana Weingartner earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in mass communication from Miami University. Most recently, she served as news and public affairs producer with WMUB-FM. Ms. Weingartner has earned numerous awards for her reporting, including several Best Reporter awards from the Associated Press and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists. She served on the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Board of Directors from 2007 - 2009.

City names new assistant police chief

Cincinnati's City Manager is naming Captain Paul H. Humphries Assistant Chief/Executive Officer for the Cincinnati Police Department.

Humphries has been on the force 26 years. He currently serves as the Chief of Staff for Chief James Craig.

In a release Dohoney says, “Captain Humphries is committed to helping ensure that the Police Department follows through on the principles outlined in the Collaborative Agreement and will help lead our police officers into the future as a well-prepared department.”

Hamilton County Commissioners reorganized Monday with Chris Monzel assuming the presidency.

Monzel says he plans to stay the course laid out by fellow commissioner Greg Hartmann.

"Definitely public safety is the number one priority for Hamilton County. And it's something that's important and especially with the new Sheriff coming on board of what the public safety needs are. So that's number one, that's always been the number one priority to me in government," he says.

Housing development planned for Mt. Healthy

Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority's newest housing development is slated for Mount Healthy.

CMHA plans to build a home for people with disabilities on the site of the former Duvall school on Compton Road. Spokeswoman Kelly Kramer says the facility fills a need outlined in a study last month.

A young, female manatee named "Woodstock" is the newest addition to the Cincinnati Zoo. The 900-pound, two-year-old arrived Friday from the Columbus Zoo.

Though born in the wild, Woodstock was rescued along with her mother off the Southwest coast of Florida in 2011. Both were victims of cold-stress (prolonged exposure to low temperatures), and while Woodstock survived, her mother did not.

Race St closures for construction

Race Street will be closed for two weekends between Fifth and Sixth Streets for construction. Crews are tearing down what remains of the Skywalk in preparation for construction of the new Dunnhumby building.

The closures begin on Saturday, January 12 at 6:00 a.m. and remain closed until Sunday, January 13 at 6:00 p.m., and will be closed again on Saturday, January 26 at 6:00 a.m. and remain closed until Sunday, January 27 at 6:00 p.m.
