Announcer & Producer

Lee Hay has worked at all three Cincinnati Public Radio stations: WGUC in the mid-70's, WMUB in the late 70's, and WVXU since 1984. She is currently executive producer/host of the award-winning arts program Around Cincinnati Sunday evenings and The Blues on Saturday evenings. Her radio work has been awarded numerous awards including one from the Ohio Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, numerous Communicator Awards, Society of Professional Journalists and the Ohio Associated Broadcasters Association. Most recently she has received a Certificate of Merit from the Gabriel Awards for The Journey from Within; and recognition from the Ohio Associated Broadcasters Association for Cincinnati Baseball: Crosley Field (2011) and The Who Concert: 30 Years Later and Baseball: A Little Known Chapter (2010). Hay is also WVXU's music director and with her jazz background was the Cincinnati correspondent for downbeat magazine.

Winter Blues Fest

On February 8 and 9, 2013, Cincinnati will be rocking with more than 25 blues bands. The Cincy Blues Society's Winter Blues Fest celebrates over two decades of supporting the Blues. This year's festival showcases the best local and regional Blues musicians for two nights, from 7:00 pm to 1:00 am at The Phoenix in downtown Cincinnati.

Blue Wisp Jazz Club

Lee Hay sits down with local attorney, musician and co-owner of the Blue Wisp Jazz Club, Ed Felson, to discuss the current financial problems facing the club and the efforts he is undertaking to stabilize the business. The Blue Wisp’s move to a larger space downtown, plus adding a full food menu, have both increased costs exponentially. While making no guarantees, he does want to try everything possible to keep the club open and a home for live music.

What Makes the Reindeer Fly

The incredible Lloyd Library and Museum in downtown Cincinnati has a fascinating exhibit running until the end of February. Titled What Makes the Reindeer Fly, it is a book and art exhibit that explores the role of "magic," or hallucinogenic, mushrooms both scientifically and culturally from around the globe and how they have a greater presence culturally then you ever imagined possible. Curator Anna Heran talks about this fun and informative exhibit in an interview with Lee Hay.

Jay Schadler of ABC News
