With more than 20 years of journalism experience in the Greater Cincinnati market, Ann Thompson brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her reporting. She has reported for WKRC, WCKY, WHIO-TV, Metro Networks and CBS/ABC Radio. Her work has been recognized by the Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists. In 2011 A-P named her “Best Reporter” for large market radio in Ohio. She has won awards from the Association of Women in Communications and the Alliance for Women in Media. Ann reports regularly on science and technology in Focus on Technology.


She has reported from Japan and South Korea, Germany and Belgium as part of fellowships from the East-West Center and RIAS.

Ryan Ludwick a Red for 2 more years

Reds outfielder Ryan Ludwick

The Cincinnati Reds have signed outfielder Ryan Ludwick to a two year deal worth $15 million. The contract goes through the 2014 season with a mutual option for 2015. During last season Ludwick hit .275 with 26 home runs and 80 RBIs. In a Reds news release General Manager Walt Jockety said the 34 year old was important to the Reds success last year and the team is looking to keep that momentum going into next season.

Cincinnati solar solution to food problem in India


A Cincinnati invention will soon be on its way to India following months of marketing and development.

The product, still in the testing stages, is a 10-foot-long cold storage shed, something badly needed in India where nearly 40 percent of crops spoil before they get to market.

University of Cincinnati business professor Ilsa Hawkins and her students recognized a need for cold storage. They went to Mumbai (Ice Expo) with a brochure and a business plan.

Jones turns down CU

Jones spoke with Cincinnati media Tuesday about UC playing in the Belk Bowl.

UPDATE 12:45 pm:  Associate Sports Communications Director for football Ryan Koslen confirms that Jones has withdrawn his name for the Colorado position.
