"The Bicentennial Minutes
are a wonderful combination of public service and first-class radio. . .
the technical quality of the pieces was outstanding. . . The web site is
particularly helpful as a way to connect to other research material. . .
I've produced radio programs for 30 years and know how difficult it is
to make shows sound good. WMUB has done a fine job. . .
a top-notch production and a welcome addition to Ohio's heritage."
--Sam Litzinger, Westwood Radio, Washington, DC
"I would like to commend
your efforts in making the bicentennial minutes happen.
I enjoy hearing them . . . Thank you for involving the Ohio Historical
Society and for consulting Ohio Historical Markers. The variety
and scope of topics has been fabulous."
--Kristina Markel, Assistant State Coordinator, National History
Day in Ohio, Ohio Historical Society
"Thank you for the minutes, they're a high point of the day."
--K.P.H., Technische Universiteit Delft, the Netherlands
"I sure enjoy these
Minutes and thank you for them. I've learned a lot of
interesting tidbits. Even though I am not young, my attention
span seems to be getting shorter; a minute gives me an interesting
and enjoyable experience, without giving me time to 'tune out'."
--M.S., Worthington
"I find the series so
interesting!" writes G.G. of Dayton. "It fills
in the gaps of my knowledge about Ohio history. Have you considered
producing a CD at the end of the series? I think it would be great
for Ohio History teachers as well as Ohio History 'buffs'."
"The minutes
are enlightening and a refreshing bright spot in the midst
of all the information that is customarily offered every morning
on a radio news station. It's amazing to think of all the
notable events, people and places in Ohio and her history. . .
I particularly enjoyed the recent April 1st episode - I laughed
out loud driving in to work! Thank you!! "
-- C.L., Athens
"Your Ohio minute
is great!" writes Carmen Santone of Youngstown,
who listens on WYSU-FM (88.5). "I try to listen to it every
day. They are very interesting, and I learn a lot. If I miss one,
or if I want a repeat I just go to your web-page. Thanks."
"I love the Bicentennial Minutes," writes
Suzanne M. of New Orleans. "They are informative, interesting, and
thoughtful. They are teaching me about a state I know little about. Thanks
for producing them. I live in New Orleans and I listen on the web. Our
Louisiana Purchase minutes on the TV are not as well done as your Ohio
minutes." Thank you, Suzanne!

The music of Ohio Bicentennial
Minutes
Our theme music is "Beautiful Ohio", one of
the two official songs of Ohio. See the Minute of Monday,
January 13 for more information, and listen for an upcoming show that
will talk about that OTHER official song of Ohio.
The several versions of the "Beautiful Ohio" heard on our series
were arranged for guitar and performed especially for Ohio Bicentennial
Minutes by Jim McCutcheon. Jim is a guitarist, teacher, and member of
the Dayton Classical Guitar Society, for whom he frequently performs.
Jim is the 2002 Outstanding Alumni Award recipient from the Wright State
University School of Graduate Studies. He earned bachelor's and master's
degrees from Wright State, currently teaches guitar as Artist-in-Residence
at the University of Dayton, and also teaches at Wright State and at Miami
University in Middletown. McCutcheon
Music Studios are located in Centerville, Ohio.
