Update 6/5/2013 at 10:20 am:  Documents received from the city show the pension system's unfunded actuarial accrued liability as of 12/31/2012 was $862,122,656.  That compares with the unfunded actuarial accrued liability as of 12/31/2011 of $728,428,380.  That means the unfunded balance increased by more than $133 million during that time.

A good old-fashioned family fight is a frequent occurrence in the Democratic Party, but this year's race for Cincinnati mayor won't be one of them.

The party leadership, in a recent blast e-mail to the party faithful made it clear they won't be taking sides in the battle between two Democratic mayoral candidates - Vice Mayor Roxanne Qualls and former council member John Cranley.

Caleb Faux, the Hamilton County Democratic Party's executive director, said neither candidate has asked the party for an endorsement.

Hamilton County Judge Robert Ruehlman will remain on the case in a lawsuit against Elmwood Place over use of its traffic cameras. Attorney for the village Judd Uhl claimed the judge's words and actions "convey the impression that the judge has developed a hostile feeling or spirit of ill will..."

A year and a half ago Covington City Manager Larry Klein projected a $20 million deficit over five years. Now with what he calls "painful" cuts out of the way, including new labor contracts with higher health care premiums, a reorganization of city departments and a consolidation of emergency dispatch services, Covington is on track to save 20 million over five years. He will detail his new budget Tuesday morning for businesses at a meeting spearheaded by the Covington Business Council.

Festo, a German-based manufacturing company, is moving its production, assembly and distribution facility from Long Island, New York to Mason. The new 175,000 sq. ft. building will open in 2015 along the growing  I-71 technology corridor on a 45-acre site. Earlier this year  WVXU reported Mason has created  nearly $110 million in new investment and created 1,400 new jobs since 2011.
