Governor Ted Strickland is firing back at critics of the plan to restore passenger train service to the 3-C corridor, linking Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland. The critics have noted the slow average speed of about 40 miles an hour, plus the need for state government to subsidize the project to the tune of 17 million dollars a year. But Strickland stresses the federal government has awarded Ohio 400 million dollars to get the trains running and he charges that the critics are just too negative. Governor Strickland is also touting the economic boost he says the train project could bring to Ohio, especially the 8-thousand jobs he believes the system would help create.
