Northern Kentucky has generated lots of economic announcements in the past year--business expansions here, job expansions there--and the momentum continues into this year. Much of the growth is thanks to a wealth of resources such as available land, a well-trained workforce and nearby transportation, including the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and DHL.

Air cargo company relocating HQ to Florence, bringing 150 jobs

Air cargo carrier Southern Air is moving its global headquarters to Florence, Kentucky. The $3.5 million investment will create 150 jobs.

Northern Kentucky legislators want citizen input

All sixteen state senators and representatives from the Northern Kentucky area are inviting citizens to a Feb. 2 meeting in Erlanger to hear what issues they want the Kentucky legislature to deal with this year.

The Northern Kentucky Legislation Caucus meeting will run from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Erlanger City Building, 505 Commonwealth Avenue.

Public invited to forum on Kentucky's legislature

The Northern Kentucky Forum will hold an event Tuesday night where state legislators will talk about the legislature's 2013 agenda and citizens will get advice on how to follow legislation and contact legislators.

The forum takes place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Notre Dame Academy auditorium at 1699 Hilton Drive in Park Hills.

Roebling repaired, weight restriction lifted

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has restored the 11-ton weight limit on the historic Roebling Suspension Bridge.

In October, a routine inspection found some deterioration of one of the beams. That led KYTC officials to impose a 3-ton weight restriction.

The repairs were finished Thursday. A final inspection performed Friday determined the bridge could go back to the 11-ton weight limit.
